CTWC IBERIA 2025 in  Ciudad Real

Fifth Classic Tetris Iberia live event

On October 4 and 5, 2025, the Classic Tetris Iberia community once again held the annual CTWC Iberia tournament, choosing Ciudad Real as the venue once again thanks to the positive reception from the previous year.

Once again, it was part of Manchacómic comic fair, celebrating its twelfth edition, on this occasion the organization offered us a new location in the heart of the fair, with the magnificent Carlos Vazquez hall of the Old Casino of Ciudad Real at our disposal.

Once again, we had two days to hold the tournament, with the venue available for the whole of Saturday and Sunday morning. We also decided to hold a simple amateur tournament, based on a points ranking, so that anyone could take part regardless of their level or experience. The winner would receive a Star Wars merchandise kit donated by the Manchacómic organization.

The venue where CTWC Iberia 2025 was held

After a productive Friday spent setting up and meeting in person those we had only known online, we kicked off the tournament on Saturday morning with the qualifying round. A total of 11 participants, which could have been 12 if our dear Arin hadn’t missed a flight because of Aegean, began a three-round qualifying phase that would end at noon with a lunch break. Notably, Noraneko achieved his PB live with a score of 450,667. Lokenze took the lead with four maxouts, followed by Le with two and Yelena with 827,500 points.

In the afternoon, we would begin with round 0, from which the top five finishers would advance, waiting for the winners to compete in the quarterfinals. In the first matches, Salva defeated Retrocabeza 3-1 and Vachet beat Mikomalo 3-0.

In the remaining match of round 0, Gunter defeated Noraneko 3-0. Therefore, in the quarterfinals, Gunter will face Le, Salva will play Lokenze, and Vachet will take on Yelena. The other quarterfinal match will be played by Hangamaster and F1Champion, the remaining players who avoided playing in round 0.

Hangamaster and F1Champion kicked off the quarterfinals, treating us to an exciting match that Hangamaster managed to win in a close decider by 3-2. The next match featured Lokenze and Salva, with Lokenze beating a worthy Salva 3-0, who did everything he could against the overwhelming rolling powers of the top seed.

The last quarterfinal match on Saturday pitted Gunter against Le. Despite the Frenchman’s good play, which saw himself take the first game, Le imposed his will and ended up winning 3-1. After Le’s impressive performance, we closed the connection for Saturday and left to recharge our batteries for Sunday’s matches.

Gunter vs Le

Starting Sunday morning with some Internet connection issues that were quickly resolved by the Manchacómic organizers, we got ready to enjoy the last of the quarterfinal matches, which would pit Yelena against Vachet. A 3-1 victory would put Vachet in the semifinals, where he would face Le for a spot in the final.

The first semifinal match was between Hangamaster and Lokenze, with the latter winning 3-0, proving once again why he took first place in the qualifiers. With this result, Lokenze managed to remain undefeated in the tournament, having not lost a single game. In the other semifinal, despite Vachet winning the first game after a heroic comeback, Le ended up taking the spot in the final with a 3-1 victory.

Therefore, fulfilling the prediction made during Saturday’s qualifying round, Lokenze and Le, the two rollers in the competition and first and second place respectively, would face each other in the final. In a thrilling best-of-seven match, with Lokenze taking an early lead, Le threatening a comeback, and several heart-stopping moments for certain parents, Lokenze managed to secure a 4-2 victory and be crowned the first Spanish CTWC Iberia champion.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed financially to the prize through Matcherino, as well as our sponsor CIM Internet for their generosity in lending us all the computer equipment we needed to run the tournament and, of course, to the Manchacómic organization for providing us with this wonderful space and all the necessary furniture. This location allowed us to enjoy a large turnout, which added excitement to the matches, as well as participants in our community tournament who were able to learn more about classic Tetris and its mechanics, and the wonderful community formed by all of us who enjoy this game. See you next year!
